NACOGDOCHES, Texas – SFA women's soccer head coach Wally Crittenden announced on Wednesday the signing of four individuals to the team for the upcoming Fall of 2019. Peyton Graves (Conroe, Texas/Woodlands HS) , Colleen Feagins (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS, Harlie Wiley (Belton, Texas/Belton HS) and Jamie Jezierski (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak HS) headline a class that will bring great versatility and talent to the Ladyjack roster.
Graves is an accomplished defender that will immediately give the 'Jacks a boost on the back half . The native was a 6A All-State Honorable Mention in 2018 and an All-District selection in both her sophomore and junior seasons. A four-year varsity player, Graves was named her team's captain in her latter two years of high school, and was a Co-Defensive MVP for Montgomery Country in 2018. Off the field, she is a three-time All-Academic First Team honoree, was nominated for RLYA and is a member of the National Honors Society.
"Peyton is a tremendous athlete and will be a very powerful ball winner in a midfield or back line role. She is a dominant goal scorer in the air and her leadership and competitive character will overwhelm opponents. Along with those attributes, she can strike a heavy ball or drop a serve in behind teams with precision and consistency. I look forward to the impact Peyton will have on either unit in which she is featured."
An attacking player, Feagins is a speedy acquisition who has made waves as a goal-scoring forward at Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas. A two-time All-State Honorable Mention in 2015 and 2016 as well as the district's Offensive MVP in 2016, Feagins was named to the All-State Team in 2017 as a junior. An accomplished student, Feagins is also a three-time Academic All-District selection and is in the top five percent of her class academically.
"Colleen is fast and she can score goals", Crittenden said. "She is a very powerful front-runner and will have a very high top-end speed. She is comfortable driving out of the midfield or releasing on the edges as a forward to impose herself physically. She is a great finisher and hits a very heavy shot as well. Along with her speed and ability to partner in possession, she is a tenacious front-half defender and will no doubt be steps away from the ball at any moment."
Harlie Wiley joins the squad to bolster the Ladyjack defense, having starred with her club team Lonestar U18 FDL as well as Belton High School's varsity squad. She was named to the All-District Team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, and won the State Cup with Lonestar in the latter campaign, advancing all the way to regionals in North Carolina. An Academic Honor Roll member in each of her four years, Wiley was also a two-time Academic All-District selection.
"Harlie is going to demand the best from her opposition no matter if it is against her teammates on the training ground or in match play", remarked Crittenden. "She has great strength and size and is a powerful runner and tackler. She will bring a physical edge to our back line that will make us very tough to play against. Look for Harlie to be a tremendous ball winner in the air and fantastic marking back who will take pride in really high level defense."
Rounding out the class is Spring, Texas native Jamie Jezierski, a versatile athlete who has played both defender and midfielder for Challenge 01 ECNL and Klein Oak HS. After being named to the All-District Second Team as a freshman, she moved up to the First Team in both her sophomore and junior seasons, and was named her team's MVP in both seasons. She received TASCO All-State Honorable Mention in 2018, was a 2017-18 Academic All-District honoree and is a member of the National Honor Society.
"Jamie is another player who we will feature in our back half groupings", said Crittenden. " Jamie is a great fit for a marking back or center back role and has the tough tackling and powerful ball winning attributes to compete upon arrival. She has tremendous competitive character and her aerial play is fantastic. Jamie can hit a strong shot from range and will be disciplined in her matchups so that she makes it very tough for opponents to create separation."
Crittenden is very excited about the 2019 Signing Class as a whole stating, "With this class, we wanted to bring in really high level players that would compete for playing time right away. We wanted players with very high competitive character and physical attributes that will continue to raise the level at which we are able to impose ourselves on our opposition. We also wanted to bring in players who can contribute goals upon their arrival and we certainly have done that. This will be a class that brings a level of toughness and physical imposition to an already accomplished team who only loses one player."
With this signing class, the 2019 Ladyjacks will have the look of an experienced, powerful and skillful side determined to compete for the program's 14thand 15thSouthland Conference Championships next fall.
