Ladyjacks Welcome Mean Green to Nac for Midweek Showdown

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin softball team concludes a four-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon when North Texas comes to town for a midweek contest at SFA Softball Field beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The Ladyjacks are coming off a 2-1 home series loss to Central Arkansas. After dropping a tight 8-6 affair on Friday, SFA split a Saturday doubleheader with its Southland Conference foe.
Junior Brittany Lewis had a huge week offensively for the Ladyjacks. Se compiled a robust .727 batting average and a 1.455 slugging percentage while reaching base in 12 of 15 plate appearances (.800 OBP) in four games during the week. Last Tuesday at Texas Southern, she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles and six RBI to lead SFA to a 13-2 victory in five innings.
Lewis went 4-for-7 in the weekend series against UCA, tallying four runs and three RBI despite getting walked intentionally twice and four times overall. Six of her eight hits during the span went for extra bases.
As a team, the Ladyjacks posted an average of 7.5 runs per game while going 2-2 over the last seven days. SFA will look to replicate its most recent offensive output for the single game against UNT on Tuesday.
The Mean Green have dropped five of their last seven games dating back to March 12 and are 15-11 overall on the season. Last weekend they went 1-2 against Marshall and started their Conference USA slate with three consecutive losses to UTSA – a team SFA went 3-1 against in 2016.
Following Tuesday’s out-of-league game, the Ladyjacks will travel to Hammond, Louisiana this weekend to play three against Southeastern Louisiana beginning on Friday.
