NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The coaching staff at Stephen F. Austin have found the final piece to the puzzle to create a well-rounded Ladyjack team for this coming up season. Head Coach Nicole Dickson is pleased to announce the addition of junior college transfer Emily Wolfe to the roster. Wolfe is coming to SFA after playing a year at Paris Junior College. The infield player has had an outstanding junior college career being rated as one of the top incoming freshman by the NJCAA last year and capped the season with being chosen as the Most Valuable Player and recipient of the Vernon Carter Cup at Paris Junior College.
The Houston native has played 58 games for Paris Junior College and holds a .431 batting average. Wolfe is ranked fifth in the conference in runs last season, 59, and ranked fifth in hits, 81. In the field, she has tabbed 80 assists and 94 put-outs with four double plays. She helped the PJC Dragons to a 38-20 (.655) year and a fourth place finish in the East Zone Division (17-11). In the 2016 Region XIV Conference Tournament, Wolfe assisted her team through the second round with two RBI’s from her three times at bat against Angelina College.
Coach Dickson on Wolfe: “Wolfe is transferring at semester and will be an impact type player on the infield. She is a competitive athlete who will add both depth in the middle infield and speed to our lineup. Defensively she was one of the top infielders in Region 14 east last season as a freshman. Offensively she can hit for power and is also a threat on the bases. We are excited to add her to our program and team.”
SFA’s Softball's 2017 season will get under way on February 9th as they start the season on the road in Starkville, Miss. The Ladyjacks will participate in the Mississippi State Tournament Feb. 9th through the 11th.
