Opening Pitch
The Stephen F. Austin softball team gets a heavy dose of the Southwestern Athletic Conference this week as the Ladyjacks face two schools from the league in midweek contests. SFA will first travel to Houston to play Texas Southern on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and will then return home for a date with Prairie View A&M on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. The latter of the two games is a makeup from the originally scheduled game against the Lady Panthers on March 5.
Success Against the SWAC
SFA hasn't needed much time to take care of SWAC schools this year. In the previous meeting between both Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M, the Ladyjacks won convincingly in five innings, beating TSU 15-3 in the team's first home game back on Feb. 18 and blanking PVAMU 9-0 on the road on March 25.
Last Time Out
The Ladyjacks are coming off their first Southland Conference series victory of the season, taking two of three games from Houston Baptist over the weekend at SFA Softball Field. Friday's doubleheader was nothing short of entertaining as freshman Callee Guffey tossed a no-hitter in game one to help SFA win 8-0 in five innings and the Ladyjacks pulled off a big rally to take game two 7-6.
Staff Ace
Freshman Callee Guffey's best week of the season was highlighted by her no-hitter against Houston Baptist on Friday afternoon in an 8-0 victory. She also earned the win in game two on Friday with two hitless/scoreless innings of relief to help the Ladyjacks take a come-from-behind 7-6 victory. The hurler gave the No. 22 team in the country fits in the first game of a midweek doubleheader at Texas A&M on Wednesday, tossing a complete game while only allowing two earned runs in a narrow 3-2 loss. The Waco native ranks ninth in the SLC this season with a 3.35 ERA and sits third with 5.40 strikeouts per game.
ESPN Top 10 Worthy
Junior Lindsay Campbell is coming off a nice week at the plate as well as in the field. In the fifth inning during Callee Guffey's no-hit bid, Campbell made an incredible diving catch at the wall in centerfield against Houston Baptist to preserve the no-hitter. The play was so amazing that it climbed as high as number three on ESPN's Top 10 Plays on Friday night.
Hot Bat
Brittany Lewis started the week with a leadoff home run in the first inning of a doubleheader against No. 22 Texas A&M and then went on a tear against Houston Baptist in the weekend series. Against the Huskies, Lewis went 8-for-12 (.667) at the plate with three runs, three RBI, three doubles and a home run to help the Ladyjacks earn the 2-1 series win. Lewis currently leads the team in batting average (.345), home runs (7), RBI (28), doubles (8) and slugging percentage (.609).

Ducks on the Pond
The SFA outfielders have been efficient at the plate with runners in scoring position so far this season. Heather Hollingsworth leads the way with a .444 batting average (12-for-27) in run-scoring situations while Alisa Hamilton and Lindsay Campbell have also been proficient in that area. Hamilton and Campbell own respective batting averages of .429 (9-for-21) and .412 (7-for-17) when coming to bat with runners on second or third.
Looking Ahead
Following the midweek games against the SWAC, the Ladyjacks will travel to play Abilene Christian for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will start at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday's finale will get underway at noon.
