McNutt Announces 2014 Fall Softball Schedule

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin head softball coach Gay McNutt has announced the 2014 fall schedule for the Ladyjack softball program. The squad will participate in six games over three dates, with four contests taking place at SFA Softball Field.
“This fall, we’ll be taking a step back and focusing on fundamentals and the little things that make this team work,” McNutt said. “We want to win. That’s obviously going to be part of the focus for the six games we are playing, but our main objective will be for us to come together and do the little things correctly.”
The Ladyjacks will open their fall season against Texas Southern and St. Edward’s on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Spring, Texas. The matchup with Texas Southern is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. and the game against St. Edwards will have a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
SFA will then return home for a pair of doubleheaders at SFA Softball Field. The Ladyjacks will first host Kilgore College on Thursday, Oct. 16 beginning at 2:00 p.m. and will wrap up fall action against Tyler Junior College on Saturday, Oct. 18 with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
Game two in each doubleheader will start approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
“Anytime you have as much youth as we have it can rejuvenate the program,” said McNutt. “We’re coming off a good year and our team is a lot of fun. They’re a close-knit group and we’re really excited about the upcoming season.”
