Academic All-America Teams Complete Release - CoSIDA
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin shortstop Elizabeth Arana will close her career as a two-time academic All-American. On Thursday the senior was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Arana was named to the third team for a second straight year after graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA this year. Arana majored in health science with an emphasis in community health.
This season Arana helped lead the Ladyjacks to the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time since 2010 as SFA finished in fourth place in the conference standings.
Arana led the Ladyjacks with 40 runs scored this season. She was the team’s top base stealer with 12 swipes on 14 attempts. She hit three of her five home runs on the year during conference play. Arana also led the team with 29 walks.
Arana was voted to the team third team by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America for the second straight year. She was one of two student-athletes from the Southland Conference to be honored by CoSIDA this year. McNeese State’s Alanna DiVittorio was named to the second team.
