Ladyjacks Head to Arkansas Woo Pig Classic

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – With a 4-0 victory under their belts already this week, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks are set to face a strong field at the Woo Pig Fastpitch Classic in Arkansas this weekend. The SFA softball team will face Louisiana Tech, Drake and host Arkansas beginning on Friday.
SFA (7-9) bested Texas Southern 4-0 on Wednesday evening in the Ladyjacks’ home opener. The Ladyjacks posted those four runs on six hits, and freshmen Brittany Lewis and Katelyn Standley each hit home runs again. Senior pitcher Carlie Thomas threw her second complete game shutout of the season. Thomas allowed just two hits by the Lady Lions and tallied 10 strikeouts.
The Ladyjacks will open the Woo Pig Fastpitch Classic against LaTech 6-8) at 10 a.m. Friday before facing Arkansas at 3 p.m. The Razorbacks (13-3) are receiving votes in one of the major polls this week as well.
SFA will face Drake (2-13) at 9 a.m. Saturday. Then, the tournament will be seeded and the Ladyjacks will play two more games to determine a champion.
