HAMMOND, La. - Junior Jill Ivy and freshman Justice Walker each recorded 12 kills and the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball completed the season sweep of Southeastern Louisiana with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-15) victory Thursday night inside the University Center.
The three-set victory for SFA (15-13, 7-8 SLC) caps off a six-set, 2-0 mark against the Lady Lions (11-17, 4-11 SLC) in 2013 and avenges a pair of losses to SLU a season ago. The Ladyjacks had a 13-game win streak over the Lady Lions before suffering two, five-set losses in 2012.
Ivy and Walker highlighted an SFA attack that swung a .290 clip, its highest attacking percentage since hosting the SLU back on Sept. 21 (14 matches). Allen finished two off from joining Ivy and Walker in double-figure kills, recording eight. Allen also finished with three blocks, as SFA finished with four as a team.
Junior Paige Holland recorded 34 assists and libero OJ Olson finished with 20 digs to headline the back row.
The Ladyjacks trailed right from the start of the opening set, before a service ace from Holland gave SFA a 9-8 edge out of a breakpoint. With the lead, the Ladyjacks went on a 12-7 run to build a six-point lead before taking the first set with ease 25-20.
SFA once again trailed to open the second set, but a service ace, this time from senior Amanda Rister, put the Ladyjacks on top out of a 7-7 tie. The Lady Lions responded tying the score on four other occasions, before outcome mirrored the first set 25-20 in favor of SFA.
The Ladyjacks got three kills each from Ivy and Allen in a 25-15 victory in the third set to complete the sweep.
SFA will close out its Southland Conference road schedule on Saturday, Nov. 9, with a 2:00 p.m. matchup at New Orleans.
