NEW ORLEANS, La. – Sophomore Jacque Allen recorded 11 kills and the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack volleyball team concluded their road schedule with a 3-1 victory over New Orleans Saturday afternoon at the Human Performance Center.
SFA (16-13, 8-8) improved to.500 in conference play and completed the sweep of the Privateers (3-26, 0-16 SLC) with a pair of wins in the home-and-home series. The Ladyjacks went 7-1 across the two meetings.
Allen highlighted an SFA attack that swung a .242 clip across four sets. The native of Mansfield, Texas, was the only Ladyjack to record double-figure kills, as junior Jill Ivy and freshman Justice Walker recorded eight each.
Junior Paige Holland finished with 31 assists, having eclipsed the 30 mark in each of her last four matches.
Defensively, libero OJ Olson recorded 17 assists to lead the back row, while junior Madison Martin recorded 14. Allen also led SFA at the net, recording five blocks, as the Ladyjacks finished with nine as a team.
SFA had a .310 attacking percentage and got three kills each from Allen, Holland and Walker, to fuel a 25-12 thumping of UNO. The Ladyjacks, despite exchanging the lead twice with the Privateers in the early going, went on a 22-9 run to cruise to the opening set victory.
UNO evened the match with a 25-22 victory in the second set, before SFA reclaimed the lead in the third set. The Ladyjacks never trailed and got five kills from Allen to go take a 2-1 edge, before hitting a match-high .400 mark in the fourth set to seal the victory.
SFA, still in the hunt for the Southland Conference Tournament, will return home a pair of matches inside Shelton Gym. The Ladyjacks will face Oral Roberts on Nov. 12, before hosting Northwestern State (Nov. 16) on Senior Day.
