2012 Southland Conference Softball All-Academic Teams
FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin sophomore utility infielder Elizabeth Arana was named to the Southland Conference Academic All-SLC first team, the league office announced on Thursday, marking the first time she has earned the honor.
Arana, who was named to the All-SLC third-team, led the Ladyjacks in batting average (.295), hits (38), doubles (10), triples (3), runs batted in (21), total bases (66), slugging percentage (.512), walks (29) and on-base percentage (.430). She also was tied for the team-lead in home runs (4).
Posting a 4.0 GPA as a Kinesiology major, the sophomore from the Woodlands, Texas, also played solid defense around the infield committing just three errors (.989 fielding percentage) while starting games at first base, second base and shortstop.
Arana was one of just three Ladyjacks to play and start in all 49 games and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first-team for her efforts both on the field and in the classroom.
