Ladyjacks Set For Ragin' Cajun Invitational

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team returns to tournament action this weekend when they take part in the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Ladyjacks (5-11) will open the tournament Friday against Nicholls State (4-11) at 11:00 a.m., followed by an evening game against Kentucky (6-5) at 6:30 p.m.
Along with Nicholls State and Kentucky, the Ragin' Cajun Invitational will feature Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Louisiana-Lafayette. On Saturday the Ladyjacks will face Kentucky once again at 11 a.m. followed by a game against the Islanders (2-7) at 6:30 p.m.
SFA will play host No. 12 Louisiana-Lafayette (12-0) on Sundayat 3 p.m., who have outscored their opponents 123-26 thus far.
The Ladyjacks are coming off a tough 6-5 loss Wednesday at home to Louisiana Tech. SFA left six runners on base, including the tying and winning run on third and second base to end the game. Bethany Brown hit her first home run of the season and Elizabeth Arana and Cadie Weaver each had two hits a piece.
Kaitlyn Mixon (0-2) worked 3.2 innings in her second career start, striking out for batters while allowing two earned runs on five hits.
SFA has been led offensively this season by Weaver and Arana. Weaver leads the Ladyjacks with a .357 batting average and 15 hits, along with a team-best 10 RBI's. Arana meanwhile has a team-leading two home runs and a .308 average.
