
Ladyjacks Set To Take On Islanders

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team will take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this weekend in a three-game Southland Conference series. The set begins Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. from Chapman Field.
The Ladyjacks come into the weekend with an 8-26 season record and a 4-11 mark in Southland play. If SFA hopes to end its five-game win streak, the Ladyjacks will have to do so against one of the top teams in the Southland. A&M-Corpus is just out of first place in the league standings with a 15-3 conference record. The Islanders have more wins than any team in the Southland at 31-10 on the year.
The Islanders have the top team batting average in the Southland at .305. A&M-Corpus also leads the league in run production with 211 runs scored this season.
The SFA pitching staff comes into the weekend with a 3.94 ERA. Ace Monika Covington leads the way with her 2.89 ERA. Covington ranks fifth in the Southland with 110 strikeouts.
