Baseball and Softball Join Forces with United Way

The Stephen F. Austin baseball and softball teams hosted their first "Baseball/Softball Big Brother/Big Sister Bowling Bash" last Saturday, at Texas Pro Bowl, located on North Street. The purpose of the event was to provide children with a safe, fun activity that they may have never experienced before, as well as expose them to role models with the Lumberjack baseball team and the Ladyjack softball team.
The children are participants in the Glory Gang organization, run by Executive Director Richard Konderla. The Glory Gang travels into disadvantaged neighborhoods for visitation during the week and sends busses out on Sunday nights to gather children ages 3-to-12 for a high-energy, excitement-filled presentation complete with a meal, music, games and a faith-based message.
