NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team will head to Waco, Texas, Tuesday for a non-conference game against Baylor. The contest will make up a previously scheduled date that was rained out early this month.
The Ladyjacks come into the contest with a 32-20 overall record, having split their four games last week. SFA defeated Houston Baptist, 3-1, Wednesday, before dropping a three-game Southland Conference series at UTSA over the weekend. The Ladyjacks won the opening game, 9-0, then lost the last two games by a combined count of 3-0 to move from second to third place in the SLC standings with a 17-9 league mark.
SFA's 32 wins this season mark the first time the Ladyjacks have broken the 30-win barrier since going 31-31 in 1994. SFA is also guaranteed a slot in the eight-team SLC Tournament for the first time since the 1990 season, when the Ladyjacks won the conference's postseason tournament.
Baylor comes into Tuesday's game with a 22-19 season record and a 4-11 mark in Big 12 play. The Bears are eighth in the Big 12 standings entering this week. Baylor has lost six of its last seven games and four straight heading into its contest with the Ladyjacks.
Tuesday's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
