NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Ladyjacks will attempt to build on their six-game unbeaten streak this weekend when they take Southland Conference road trips to Lake Charles, La., and Beaumont, Texas. League-leading SFA (8-3-2, 4-0-1) opens the weekend with a 4 p.m. game at McNeese State Friday. The Ladyjacks will return to the Lone Star State for a Sunday tilt with first-year SLC program Lamar. That game is set for an 11 a.m. start. McNeese State enters the weekend tied for third in the league standings with a 3-1-1 SLC mark and a 7-4-4 overall record. The Cowgirls are coming off their first conference loss -- a 1-0 setback against Southeastern Louisiana. Lamar is 0-14-0 overall with an 0-5-0 record against league foes.
Last Week: SFA recorded its second and third shutouts of the season, as the Ladyjacks held Central Arkansas and Northwestern State to a combined total of eight shots with just two on goal. SFA clobbered Central Arkansas, 4-0, Friday, as the Ladyjacks scored three first-half goals to put the game away early. Sunday, SFA posted a 3-0 win over Northwestern State, marking the third straight shutout against the Demons, dating back to 2005. Sophomore Kelli Wilson scored twice and recorded two assists on the weekend, and junior Amanda Alders became SFA's all-time leader in career goals and points with her first-half goal against UCA.
SFA vs. the Cowgirls: The Ladyjacks are 14-5-3 (.705) all-time against McNeese State. SFA has won six of the last seven meetings and carried a six-game winning streak against the Cowgirls into last year's 3-2 loss in the Southland Conference Tournament. The Ladyjacks are 5-2-3 against McNeese State in Lake Charles.
SFA vs. the Cardinals: This season marks Lamar's first as a Division I soccer program.
