
Lara, Woydziak Receive Preseason Honors

PLANO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin seniors Lee Lara and Carrie Woydziak received recognition on the Southland Conference Softball Preseason All-Conference teams. Lara, a third baseman, was a first-team selection while outfielder Woydziak was on the second-team.
Lara finished last season with a .291 batting average and 19 RBI. Woydziak had a .377 average and led the team with 58 hits, five triples and 30 RBI. She was a 2005 second-team All-SLC pick.
In the preseason poll, SFA was picked by both the league sports information directors and head coaches to finish ninth. The Ladyjacks finished ninth last season after posting an overall 18-30 record and an 8-19 conference mark.
The Ladyjacks will open the 2006 season on Feb. 10 against South Dakota State in the Purple and Gold Challenge at Louisiana State in Baton Rouge, La. Their home and SLC opener will be a doubleheader on Tuesday, Feb. 28, against Northwestern State. The game is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start time and will be played at Hoya Field at the Nacogdoches City Park, the new home of SFA Ladyjack softball.
