
SFA Volleyball Splits at Tulsa Tournament

TULSA, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (7-2) used 18 service aces to beat Louisiana-Lafayette, 3-0, but fell to Tulsa (9-1) after a hard fought battle, 3-1.
SFA did not let the Ragin' Cajuns (2-6) score more than 15 points in a game to extend their winning streak to seven, beating Lafayette by scores of 30-13, 30-15, 30-11.
Behind the arms of junior Laura Cramer and freshman Lauren Railey, the Ladyjacks mustered 45 kilss to the Ragin' Cajuns' 21.
Cramer, a two-time Southland Conference player of the week this season, had 12 kills, giving her a .417 attack percentage. Railey's 11 kills were second highest on the team leading her to a .450 attack percentage for the afternoon match.
In the nightcap, SFA battled a tough Tulsa Golden Hurricane team, winning game one, 30-23, dropping the next two, 30-18 and 30-25, and fighting strong in game four before falling, 32-30.
The Ladyjacks again rode the arms of Cramer and Railey who were two of five on the SFA team to post double-digit kills. Each player also grabbed their first double-double of the season, adding double-digit digs to their kill totals.
Cramer had 18 kills with 13 digs and was named to the All-Tournament Team while Railey chipped in 10 kills and 12 digs.
Sophomore Traci Rohde had 10 kills while seniors Jessica Watson and Lauren Stevens had 11 and 14, respectively. Junior Stephanie Figgers led the team with 18 digs and was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Ladyjacks return to Nacogdoches to open their home season on Friday, Sept. 16 against Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m. before taking on Nicholls State Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
