NACOGDOCHES - In what has become an all-too-familiar reoccurring theme this season, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team dropped a one-point decision to Louisiana-Monroe, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the SFA Tennis Courts. The loss drops SFA to 5-11 (.313) overall and 0-6 in Southland Conference play. It also marks the seventh one-point setback of the season for the Ladyjacks.
The Ladyjacks won the first two matches of the day taking wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to win the doubles point. The duo of senior Robin Houston and sophomore Laura Harrison won at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Lauren Nowicki and junior Kama Scott recorded a 8-4 win over the Lady Indians' Pauline Bourdet and Ashlea Spillers at No. 3 doubles.
But the Lady Indians fought right back to take a 2-1 lead after picking up wins at the top two singles spots. Junior Kama Scott tied the match at 2 for SFA when she defeated ULM's Spillers, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6 singles. Junior Megan Langston picked a singles victory at No. 5 singles but it wasn't enough as Louisiana-Monroe held off SFA for the victory.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday against Northwestern State. The match against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 10 a.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts.
