SFA Tennis Has Successful Trip to Orlando Ladyjacks go 3-1 (.750) in the Orlando Spring Break Tournament
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team posted a 3-1 (.750) record at the Orlando Spring Break Tournament. SFA posted victories over Bucknell (5-2), Cleveland State (5-2) and Rhode Island (7-0) with its only setback being a 4-3 decision against Radford. The Ladyjacks are now 5-10 (.333) on the season.
The Ladyjacks kicked off the tournament with a victory over Bucknell. The Ladyjacks won the doubles point and took four of the six singles matches for the victory. SFA came right to post an identical victory over Cleveland State, taking all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches.
The match against Radford turned out to be a close battle that saw the Highlanders record a one-point victory. The two teams split the singles competition but Radford won the deciding doubles point.
The Ladyjacks bounced right back against Rhode Island with a dominating performance. The Ladyjacks swept all nine matches, recording shutout wins in seven sets.
The Ladyjacks were slated to close out the tournament against Bryant College but the match was rained out.
SFA was led by senior Ashley Johnson, junior Kama Scott and sophomore Laura Harrison who each went undefeated in singles play. Johnson went 8-0 for the week recording 4-0 records in both singles and doubles action. Scott was 4-0 in singles and 3-1 (.750) in doubles play, while Harrison recorded a 2-0 singles record and a 1-1 (.500) doubles record.
