
SFA Shuts Down Texas State, 76-59

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Texas State scored the first four points of the game, but then went without a point for 11:30 as SFA went on a 22-0 run to build an 18-point lead and cruise to a 76-59 win over the Bobcats Wednesday night in Nacogdoches.
The 'Jacks (11-9, 5-4) shot an even 50 percent for the game Wednesday night with 11 players getting on the books in the scoring column. Anthony Paez led the Lumberjacks with 15 points and Josh Porter added 12. Josh Naylor scored 19 to lead the Bobcats, with all 19 coming in the final 14 minutes of the game.
Solid defense over the first 20 minutes of the game put the Bobcats in a hole from which they could not recover as the 'Jacks held Texas State to only six-of-23 field goal attempts (.261) in the first half of play. Texas State heated up in the second half connecting on 15 of 25 attempts to outscore SFA 43-41 after halftime.
The Lumberjacks dominated the glass, outrebounding Texas State by a 40-23 margin. Hank Rivers pulled down a game high 11 rebounds for SFA and also added six points. Paez also added seven rebounds for the Lumberjacks.
Marcus Clark scored six points and dished out six assists in the win. Patrick Hannaway had a solid night off the bench with eight points, including a 6-6 night at the free throw line.
The Lumberjacks return to action Monday night against Sam Houston in a regionally televised on FOX Spors Net with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
