
Ladyjacks Nab 11th Straight Win

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks won their 11th straight match and extended their Southland Conference record to a flawless 10-0 after defeating the Sam Houston State Bearkats, 3-2, in a battle for first place in SLC volleyball action Tuesday night.
The Ladyjacks battled back from being down 2-1 to win games four and five to solidify their SLC first-place standing.
After winning the first game, 30-26, the Ladyjacks weren't able to hang on as the Bearkats fought back to take game two, 30-25. Carrying their momentum into game three, SHSU took a 2-1 lead over the Ladyjacks with a 30-17 win.
However, SFA battled back in game four to take the win, 30-28, forcing a fifth game. In the deciding game, the Ladyjacks were the first to 15 points, taking the match 15-10.
Leading the way for the Ladyjacks was junior Laura Cramer who collected 18 kills, followed by freshman Lauren Railey's 16. Sophomore JJ Jones dished out 55 assists in the five-game set.
Senior Lauren Stevens and junior Traci Rohde also collected double-digit kills with 11 apiece. The Ladyjacks set up 11 total blocks on the night, with Rohde being a part of five and Cramer taking part in four.
Junior libero, Stephanie Figgers, collected 29 digs with two service aces.
The win marked the 11th straight for the Ladyjacks, who now have an overall record of 18-2 and 10-0 in SLC play. The Bearkats fell to 10-9 on the year with an 8-2 SLC mark.
SFA returns to the court on Friday for an SLC match at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond at 7 p.m. -SFA-
