RUSTON, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis improved to 1-1 (.500) on the season after recording a shutout victory over Grambling State, 5-0, in Ruston, La. Due to rainy weather in the area, the match was delayed until later in the afternoon and the two teams played a new format of four singles matches and one doubles match.
The Ladyjacks took the doubles point behind the duo of Laura Harrison and Melissa Bass who recorded a 6-1, 6-0, victory over GSU's Stephanie Hayton and Jaida Moore. Senior Robin Houston added to the Ladyjacks lead when she defeated the Lady Tigers Alexandra Gaspar, 6-3, 6-2, at No.1 singles.
Other Ladyjacks to record victories against Grambling State were sophomore Lauren Nowicki at No. 2 singles, junior Megan Langston at No. 3 singles and junior Kama Scott at the fourth singles spot.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they return home to host Sam Houston State in the SFA/SHSU Super Dual. The match is set to begin at 9:30 a.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts. It is a make-up match from the fall season.
