
Ladyjacks Defeat Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team won four of six singles matches to defeat Centenary, 5-2, in Shreveport Saturday afternoon. The Ladyjacks improved to 2-1 (.667) on the season.
The Ladyjacks won two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The duo of senior Ashley Johnson and junior Megan Langston defeated Centenary's Christine Majchrowicz and Ashlee Mantooth, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles while sophomore Laura Harrison and senior Melissa Bass recorded an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Harrison returned to action in singles play to pick up a 6-0, 6-2, victory at No. 2 singles to give the Ladyjacks a 2-1 lead and SFA never looked back. Senior Ashley Johnson recorded the team's fourth victory of the day when she defeated the Ladies' Ashlee Mantooth, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Other Ladyjacks to record wins were junior Megan Langston at No. 5 singles and classmate Kama Scott at No. 6 singles.
SFA returns to action Friday when they host North Texas. The match against the Lady Eagles is slated to begin at 2 p.m., from the SFA Tennis Courts.
