Ladyjacks Drop Season-Opener at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team lost its season-opener Saturday afternoon at Louisiana Tech, 4-3. The heart-breaking setback was decided in doubles play as the Lady Techsters won two of the three doubles matches for the point. The two teams split the six singles matches.
Senior Robin Houston defeated Louisiana Tech's Saharai Uriarte, 6-4, 7-6, at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Laura Harrison followed with a victory at No. 3 singles. Junior Megan Langston was the other Ladyjack to pick up a singles win defeating Katie Westbrook at No. 5 singles.
The duo of Harrison and senior Melissa Bass recorded the Ladyjacks' lone doubles victory when they defeated the team of Westbrook and Anabella Duque, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Thursday when they host Sam Houston State in the SFA/SHSU Super Dual. The match is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
