NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team showed no mercy Friday night as it destroyed Nicholls State, 7-1, marking the Ladyjacks biggest explosion of the season. The Ladyjacks improve to 4-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in SLC play with the victory.
Senior Sophia Pantazis gave the Ladyjacks an early, 1-0, lead with her goal in the 10th minute of the game. The score remained 1-0 until the 35th minute of the contest with when SFA went on the offensive. The Ladyjacks scored three goals in the next 11:30 of the contest to put the game out of reach. Junior Christie Mestayer netted two goals during that stretch while sophomore Shahin Pabani scored one.
The Lady Colonels scored an early second half goal but that would be as close to the net as they would get for the rest of the game as freshman Kristel Lindsey would score a goal and Pantazis and Pabani would each net their second goals of the game.
Junior goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki played 80 minutes surrendering the lone NSU goal and recorded three saves.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday afternoon when the face defending Southland Conference regular-season champion Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m. The game against the Lady Lions is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., from the SFA Intramural Complex.
