
SFA Drops Two To Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- The SFA ladyjack softball team (5-12) dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to the University of Texas Friday afternoon in Austin by scores of 10-2 and 4-3. The losses run SFA's losing streak to six straight.
SFA scored two runs on five hits in the opener off Texas' Christina Gwyn. Ragen Rutherford drove in both runs with a two-out double in the top of the second inning. Lee Lara, Crista Hargrove, Heather Hebert and Tara Hersey all had one hit each for SFA.
Texas (12-9) jumped on starter Traci Moore early scoring seven runs on only two hits while taking advantage of three walks in the first inning. Moore left after retiring only two batters. Only three of the seven runs were earned runs in the first inning. Texas picked up only seven hits on the night but took advantage of three SFA errors and six bases on balls.
