THIBODAUX, La. - Freshman Kristel Lindsey scored two goals, including one with only 1:07 left on the clock to help the Ladyjacks rally to tie Nicholls State, 3-3. The Ladyjacks are now 9-4-3 (.656) on the season and 7-1-2 (.800) in Southland Conference play.
The game was knotted at one coming out of halftime when Lindsey scored the first of her two goals to give SFA a 2-1 advantage less than eight minutes in the half. The Lady Colonels then went on the offensive netting the games next two goals to a take 3-2 lead over SFA.
But the Ladyjacks didn't go away quietly, as Lindsey netted her six goal of the season to tie the game. Neither team was able to score in two overtime periods.
"It's a very disappointing loss," said SFA head coach Nicole Nelson. "NSU commended for fighting a hard battle. To continue moving forward as a team, we have to take advantage of the opportunities that we are creating for ourselves."
Sophomore Shahin Pabani was credited with the Ladyjacks first goal of the game on a pass from freshman Keyli Townsend.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they travel to Hammond, La., to face Southeastern Louisiana. The game against the Lady Lions is slated to get under way at 2 p.m.
