NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team picked up its first victory of the season Friday night, knocking Tennessee-Martin, 5-2. The Ladyjacks scored five second-half goals for the victory and stand at 1-2 on the season.
The Ladyjacks opened the second half down by a goal when junior Sarah Johnson tied the game at the 51:21 mark. Freshman Alicia Reese added a goal less than a minute later to give SFA a one goal advantage, 2-1.
UTM fought right back to tie the game at 2 at the 56:28 mark. But that would be as close as the Skyhawks would get to victory as SFA rattled off three unanswered goals for the victory.
Five different Ladyjacks found the back of the net including sophomore Kendra Cannon and junior Sophia Pantazis, who each finished the game with a team-high three points.
Sophomore Natascia Michalezki went the distance at goalkeeper recording seven saves and only surrendering two goals.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they travel to Shreveport, La., to take on Centenary. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
