NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer defeated UTRGV 1-0 on Sunday, September 28, to close out an undefeated Parents' Weekend, joining wins from Volleyball and Football.
The only goal in the match came from a quick corner as Taylor Dodson was in the box to receive the kick on a deflection before SLC Defensive Player of the Week, Bryn Geppert, came in and cleaned it up for the 'Jacks to net her second goal of the season, with her first one coming just three matches ago.
UTRGV was limited to just four shots in the match, even while having possession for 52% of the match. The Vaqueros recorded a total of 15 shots, as Rubi Ortiz accounted for four of those shots. Emilia Compian records her sixth loss of the year with one goal allowed and two saves in her 90 minutes played.
SFA had three shots on goal, with Bryn Geppert, Taylor Dodson, and Alexa Alvarez all sharing one shot on goal. The 'Jacks were not too far behind UTRGV in the shot category, falling just three behind at 12 on the afternoon. Bryn Geppert collected her second goal of the season and scored for the first time in front of the Lumberjack faithful at the Chopping Block. Sierra McCluer recorded four saves and posted her seventh shutout of the season.
