NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team played Texas Tech to a 1-1 tie Friday night at the SFA Intramural Complex. The Ladyjacks are now 4-2-1 on the season.
The Ladyjacks surrendered an early goal to the Lady Raiders as Jennifer Vasquez scored in the 13th minute of the game. But that would be as close to the goal as Texas Tech would get the rest of the night as sophomore goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki and the rest of the Ladyjack defense shut down the Lady Raiders. Michalezki finished the night with six saves.
SFA tied the game in the 36th minute of the contest when sophomore Sara Hernandez netted a goal on a pass from Kendra Cannon. But that would be the final goal of the game as neither team would see the back of the net through two overtimes.
"I'm dissappointed with the outcome of the game," said Nelson. "I feel like we could have won the game. The girls played with a lot of heart tonight. We created some opportunities for ourselves, but we just didn't finish."
The Ladyjacks open Southland Conference play Wednesday when they host McNeese State at 7 p.m.
