NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team dropped a heartbreaker to Northwestern State Saturday, 1-0. The Ladyjacks are now 26-29 overall and 10-14 in Southland Conference play.
Freshman Nicole Carter was impressive for the Ladyjacks going the distance surrendering one run on two hits, but the Demons' Crista Miller was just a little bit better as she scattered four-hits in the shutout.
SFA committed two errors in the third inning, which aided Northwestern State in pushing the game's only run across the plate. The Demon's Shea LeDoux reached on an error and Sarina Noack walked to open the inning. After LeDoux was forced out at third, an illegal pitch advanced Noack and Lindsey Danzy. Another fielding error allowed Noack to score with two outs.
The Ladyjacks advanced only one baserunner to third base and were held hitless after the third inning.
SFA returns to action Friday April 25th, when they return home to face Centenary. The doubleheader against the Ladies is slated to get underway at 4 p.m., from the Coy Sims Softball Complex.
