
Ladyjacks Fall to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team lost to Lamar, 4-3, Saturday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 3-8 (.273) overall and 0-4 in Southland Conference play.
Lamar took a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. The Ladyjacks lone doubles match victory came at No. 3 doubles where the team of Ashley Johnson and Megan Langston knocked off the Cardinals' Aprill McCollough and Crystal Perez, 8-5. LU extended its lead to 3-0, before Emily Voss got SFA on the scoreboard with her 6-3, 6-2, victory over the Cardinals' Nicole Weber at No. 3 singles. SFA tied the match at 3-3, after Christine Huynh and Langston picked up singles victories at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Lamar clinched the match when LU's Kendall Gibbs defeated Sandra Wolfe, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they travel to Lake Charles, La., to take on McNeese State. The match is slated to get underway at 10 a.m.
