
Northwestern State Outlasts Ladyjacks

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to Northwestern State, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 3-7 (.300) on the season and 0-3 in Southland Conference play.
The Ladyjacks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the doubles when the team of Gennan and Robin Houston picked up a 9-8 victory at the No. 1 spot. The duo of Sandra Wolfe and Melissa Bass followed that up with an 8-3 victory over the Lady Demons' Camila Prado and Kristin Pagels at No. 3 doubles. Northwestern State fought back to take a 3-1 lead after gaining victories at Nos. 1 - 3 singles. Wolfe sliced into the Lady Demon lead when she defeated Alexandra Nieto, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4 singles. Freshman Megan Langston tied the match at 3 - 3 with her 6-0, 6-0, shutout of Pagels at No. 6 singles. But Northwestern State's Prado picked up the fourth and final point in a three-set match over the Ladyjacks' Christine Huynh, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 5 singles for the Lady Demon victory.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they travel to Beaumont, Texas, to take on Lamar. The match against the Cardinals is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
