NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin softball coach Jennifer Poulsen has announced the signing of Carrie Woydziak, an outfielder from Round Rock, to a letter of intent to continue her education and play softball for the 'Jacks next season.
Woydziak joins the SFA softball program after an outstanding career for coach Michelle Mayfield at Round Rock High School. A three time All-District selection, Woydziak also helped the Round Rock program to three straight playoff appearances and an undefeated district season and area championship in 2002. The 5-8 left handed hitting outfielder hit .572 and stole 27 bases as a senior. She also hit .730 in district play her senior season.
She was named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star team that will compete later this summer in Mansfield and was also a member of the Austin Area All-Star team. During her career, Woydziak also earned Academic All-District honors and was the District 14-5A MVP and a First Team All-Centex selection as a senior.
"Carrie is the type of player that can come in and make an immediate impact. She?s a true left handed hitter that can hit for power, but also has the speed to lay it down and run it out. We are looking forward to getting Carrie in here and letting her run down balls in the outfield," said Poulsen.
