SFA jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and never trailed as they moved to 3-4 in Southland Conference play with a 65-54 win over the University of Louisiana-Monroe Thursday night in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. With the win, the 'Jacks moved their overall record to 6-7, equalling the team's win total of a season ago.
G Skip Jackson led the Lumberjacks with 16 points in the game. Jackson, the team's leading scorer, had 11-points in the second half. Jackson hit two three-pointers in the opening minute of the second half to stretch a six point Lumberjack half-time lead to 12.
F Emanuel Jackson recorded his first double-double of the season with a 13-point, 15-rebound effort. F Ron Banks had 12 points at halftime but did not play in the second half following an allergy attack.
SFA returns to action Saturday afternoon at 4:15 as they host Northwestern State in the Coliseum.
