NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head softball coach Ruth Wright announced today the signing of Katie Taylor, an outfielder from Stratford High School in Houston to a national letter of intent to play for the Ladyjacks next season.
"I am very excited about signing Katie to a letter of intent to come to SFA. She will fit right in with the great group of young outfielders we've put together in the past year or so," said Wright.
Taylor currently leads the greater Houston area with a .513 batting average, and also leads the area in extra base hits with 17. Taylor has already gathered 14 doubles and three home runs this season. She also leads the Houston area in runs scored and is sixth in runs batted in.
The right handed outfielder was a member of the First Team All-Greater Houston Team in 1998 and is a strong candidate to repeat those honors following this season.
