PREVIEW: Ladyjacks Head to the Boot for First SLC Road Trip

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program will hit the road for their first SLC road trip of the season against the McNeese Cowgirls and the Nicholls Colonels.
WHERE TO TUNE IN
• Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN+ this weekend.
• Greg Miller will be on the radio on SFA Volleyblog for both games.
SCOUTING MCNEESE
• The Cowgirls enter this Thursday night matchup with a 4-9 overall record and an 0-2 record in conference after falling to UTRGV and TAMUCC last weekend.
• Three Cowgirls have recorded over 100 kills this season with all of them recording at least 2.60 kills per set.
• Ava Henry is ranked third in the conference with a .318 attack percentage.
• Megan Grose and Corynne Hausler run the 6-2 offense for McNeese with 207 and 186 assists, respectively.
• Freshman libero, Sophia Tocmo leads the back line for the Cowgirls with 227 digs and leads the conference in digs per set at 5.40. She earned SLC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21.
• Henry also leads the net defense for the Cowgirls with 31 blocks this season including seven solo.
SCOUTING NICHOLLS
• Nicholls enters this week with a 7-8 record and a 0-2 record in conference after also falling to UTRGV and TAMUCC last weekend.
• The Colonels will face the Lamar Cardinals on Thursday night before hosting the Ladyjacks on Saturday.
• Kera Arrington and Zahahrah Edwards-Wyllie lead the offense for the Colonels with 160 and 105 kills, respectively.
• Isabella Padilla is the main setter for Nicholls with 428 assists and averages 7.13 per set which is good for fifth in the conference. She earned the first SLC Setter of the Week award of the season on Aug. 31.
• Six Colonels have recorded double figure service aces this season as they are third in the conference in aces per set at 1.63 and in total aces with 93.
• Natalia Navarro holds down the back line with 242 digs and averages 4.03 per set which ranks her eighth in the conference.
• Maya Schirmer and Harper Holden are monsters at the net with 48 and 33 blocks respectively. Schirmer leads the team with 15 solo blocks which is good for third in the conference.

"We're gonna see grit," said Coach Humphreys "I mean, McNeese is gonna be tough. They're gonna come at you. They've got three hitters that they're really counting on to be a big part of their offense, so we're gonna need to be very good at defending a right side attack and defending a middle attack, so that'll certainly be something we're focused on this week. And then we head to Nicholls, and it's gonna be more of the same. It's just gonna be teams coming at us. So it's gonna be, we're gonna need high-level execution, and we're gonna need a level of toughness this week as well."
HISTORIC NIGHT
• Jordan Henderson etched her name in the record book after recording a .917 attack percentage against SLU last Thursday night with 11 kills on 12 swings.
• This is the second highest attack percentage in a single match in SFA history. She is behind current teammate, Kyanna Creecy who currently holds the record after a perfect 11-11 night against LSU-New Orleans in 2024.
• Henderson's .917 mark is the highest attack percentage in a single match in NCAA DI this season.
