Jacks Split Doubleheader with Northwestern State
4/3/2026 8:30:00 PM | Softball
Game 1: SFA 8, NSU 5
The first three and a half innings were scoreless as both defenses stood tall and held the offenses in check. SFA got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a single from Ellie Vance, a double from Adelyn Becerra and then a single from Malia Jones bringing in the first run of the day, 1-0. Morgan Wright followed that up with a single through the left side to score Becerra, 2-0. A groundout from Lilly Bean gave Jones enough time to scratch across SFA's third run of the inning, 3-0. Alexis Grigsby then singles to right field to bring in Wright, 4-0. The Lady Demons responded with two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit in half, 4-2.
Kaylee Paul took advantage of defensive miscues from NSU as she reached safely on an errant throw to first that allowed her to advance to third to begin the bottom of the fifth. Paul then scored on a wild pitch to bring the Lumberjack lead back up to three, 5-2. Later in the inning, Wright came up to the plate with the bases juiced and hit a two-RBI single down the right field line to score Vance and Becerra, 7-2. Kara Pride scored Jones on a sacrifice fly to score the eighth run of the day for SFA, 8-2. NSU scratched across two more in the top of the sixth and one in the top of the seventh as they attempted to stage a comeback before Kai Hudson shut the door in her one inning of relief of Amelia Hatthorn.
Game 2: NSU 6, SFA 0
This game began as a repeat of last night's game as Mattison Buster and Crimson Bryant were back in the circle to start their second games of the series. Both pitchers held both offenses scoreless for four innings. The Lady Demons got on the board first with two runs in the top of the fifth. Buster and the NSU defense continued to hold the Lumberjacks in check as SFA could not get a run across home plate. NSU added four insurance runs in the top of the seventh before securing the series with a 6-0 victory.
