Creel Clutch, Bullpen Backs LeBlanc as Jacks Take Series from UTRGV

SFA wins 11th SLC game, moves into a tie for second place in league standings
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Jhett Creel singled down the left field line with two outs in the fourth inning to plate a pair of runs and give Stephen F. Austin a 4-2 advantage, while bullpen arms Elian Balmaceda and Reid Bowyer backed the starting effort of Gabriel LeBlanc as the Jacks dispatched UTRGV 5-3 on Saturday night from Pilgrim's Park to take the series; SFA's fifth Southland series win of the season.
Creel's efforts highlighted a four-run fourth that also saw an RBI single by Josh Ibe and Ethan Peña score on a balk. Creel enjoyed a three-hit day, while a fielder's choice groundout off the bat of Julian Swift in the sixth was an insurance run that the Jacks took back after a UTRGV run scored in the top half of the frame.
Like Templeton in game one, LeBlanc shrugged off an early two-run lead by the Vaqueros and found a groove working 1-2-3 frames in the second and third and stranding a single runner in both the fourth and fifth innings. LeBlanc benefitted from a 3-6-1 double play in the third and left a two-out triple on the basepaths in the fifth.
LeBlanc earned his second win of the season as his start was upheld by Balmaceda who pitched 1.2 innings in relief scattering three hits and a walk before giving way to Bowyer who tossed the final two frames allowing just two hits to pick up the save after facing two over the minimum.
