SFA held to just three hits, plates late run in 8-1 loss
HAMMOND, La. - Stephen F. Austin was limited to just three hits in Friday night's Southland Conference opener at Southeastern Louisiana and the host Lions took a 3-0 lead through two innings of play en route to an 8-1 win from Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The loss drops SFA to 11-8 overall with a 4-3 record in SLC action. SLU improves to 10-8 and 3-1 in conference play.
Jhett Creel, Julian Swift and Ethan Adkisson accounted for SFA's hits in the loss with Swift doubling in the ninth. Cooper Schneider grounded out in the eighth to plate Adkisson for the Jacks' lone run. Adkisson tripled to lead off the eighth inning prior to Schneider's at bat.
On the mound, Gabe LeBlanc went 4.0 innings with the Lions plating five runs on ten hits during his outing. Brennan Greer and Charlie Feris combined on the final four innings with two apiece.
