Sonja Rooth leads SFA into home opener after winning five of six singles matches this season
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team faces off against Nicholls and New Orleans in their home opener of the 2026 season. The Lumberjacks will first see Nicholls on Friday, March 13, at 1:00 p.m. before meeting with New Orleans on Sunday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m.
SCOUTING THE COLONELS
- Nicholls comes into Nacogdoches with a 3-3 record, as the Colonels meet with SFA for their first SLC match of the season.
- In the series, SFA holds a one-sided 16-5 record, with an 8-1 home record and a 7-3 conference record against Nicholls.
- Last time these two sides clashed, SFA captured a dominating 7-0 victory in their first Southland matchup of the 2025 season.
- In singles, Nicholls pushes to .600, with an 18-12 singles record.
- Angela Basto holds a 2-0 singles record at the No. 6 spot.
- Aada Inna and Blanca Losada lead the Colonels in singles wins, both with three.

- In the series, SFA holds onto a one-game lead at 6-5, and a 3-2 home record.
- Last matchup, the Lumberjacks cruised past UNO in a 7-0 match during the 2025 regular season.
- Six out of the seven singles players all reside above .500 in singles matches, creating a 26-11 overall singles record for the Privateers.
- Fleur Sprengers has yet to be knocked off, with a 7-0 singles record, leading UNO at the No. 1 spot.
- The combo of Nouray Khaled and Kateryna Kalistratova remains undefeated in doubles, accounting for five of the 14 doubles wins for New Orleans.
