Jacks Head to Roadrunner Classic Hosted by UTSA

Ellie Vance leads the nation with 23 hits as SFA heads to San Antonio
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team will compete in the Roadrunner Classic this weekend where they will face UMass Lowell, Northern Colorado and UTSA in a traditional tournament format.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE
• Friday, Feb. 20 begins with a 10:30 a.m. first pitch against UMass Lowell followed by a 1:00 p.m. game against Northern Colorado.
• Saturday, Feb. 21 will be a 1:00 p.m. game against UTSA followed by the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds facing off at 3:30 p.m. and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds at 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday, Feb. 22 will have the Tournament Consolation game at 10:30 a.m. and the Tournament Championship at 1:00 p.m.
WHERE TO TUNE IN
• Live Stats will be available for all games on sfajacks.com.
• Saturday's game against UTSA will be the ONLY game broadcasted on ESPN+ with Alex Loeb and Cat Osterman.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
• The River Hawks enter this week with a 2-3 record after playing at the UTEP Invitational two weeks ago.
• Julia Rowley leads the team with eight hits, three doubles, and a .571 batting average.
• Avery Spinello-Branch follows with a .429 average but leads the team with eight RBIs.
• Olivia DeCitise leads the River Hawks in the circle with a 4.30 ERA, 14.2 innings pitched, and 13 strikeouts.
SCOUTING NORTHERN COLORADO
• The Bears head to the Roadrunner Classic with a 4-6 record after they went 2-3 in the Grand Canyon Invite.
• KK Christie and Amailee Morales lead the offense for UNC with 13 hits. Christie leads the team with six doubles and three home runs with Morales closely behind her with five doubles.
• Ella Gonzales led the team with eight RBIs, followed by Christie and Morales who each have six.
• In the circle, Anna Wilming leads the pitching staff with a 4.41 ERA, two wins, 27.0 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts.
SCOUTING UTSA
• The host Roadrunners enter with a 3-6 record which includes losses to No. 25 Washington, No. 9 Nebraska, and No. 1 Texas. UTSA defeated HCU in five innings on Tuesday night.
• Taryn Madlock leads UTSA with 12 hits followed by Sabrina Wick with 11. Wick and Madlock are tied for the team lead in doubles with three.
• Samantha Mundine leads the Roadrunners with eight RBIs.
• The ace for the UTSA pitching staff is Arlette Hernandez who has appeared in seven games, started five, has a 3-1 record and two complete games with 27.2 innings pitched and 21 strikeouts.
BOMBS AWAY
• Adelyn Becerra secured an extra innings 2-0 win over PVAMU with a walk-off homerun.
• Becerra is the fifth Lumberjack to hit a home run this season joining, Kara Pride, Ella Hill, Lilly Bean, and Malia Jones.
VANCE ON FIRE
• Ellie Vance leads the team, the conference, and the nation in hits with 23 this season.
• She also leads the team and the conference with a .561 average and leads the team with 10 RBIs.
• Vance brought in the final runs of SFA's win against previously undefeated Tarleton in the second game of the doubleheader on Sunday.
• She is also 39th nationally and leads the conference with a .541 batting average.
• Ellie Vance was named SLC Hitter of the Week after going 10-17 (.588) from the plate, tying the team lead with five RBIs and leads the team with two stolen bases during the ETAMU Leadoff.
DOMINANT LUMBERJACK DEBUT
• Crimson Bryant struck out 14 St. Bonaventure batters in six-inning effort.
• Bryant's 14 strikeouts are the most by a Lumberjack arm since Kassidy Wilbur sat down 14 Missouri State batters on February 19, 2022.
• She is tied in the Southland Conference with 30 strikeouts.
