28-Point Third Quarter Vaults Ladyjacks over Cardinals

Aziyah Farrier continues her defensive dominance with four blocks against UIW.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program returned home to the Sawmill for the first time since December 17 to face the UIW Cardinals.
Both teams struggled to score early as the first basket from the floor was not make until 1:30 into the game when Cha Gardner made a tip in layup, 2-2. With 5:37 left in the first quarter, the Cardinals went on a 5-0 run to take a 13-8 lead. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter with UIW holding a four-point lead heading into the second quarter, 15-11.
After both teams scored a basket early in the second quarter, both teams went on a scoring drought for over two minutes. A three from Cha Gardner cut the lead down to two, 20-18 with 4:52 left in the quarter. The Ladyjacks ended the quarter on a 5-0 spurt that was capped off by a three from Key Roseby and SFA went into the locker room down by two, 29-27.
SFA got out to a hot start with a 6-0 run to take a four-point lead, 33-29. With 4:04 left in the third quarter UIW went on a 5-0 run to cut the SFA lead to two, 47-45. A layup from Harmanie Dominguez with 31 seconds left extended the Ladyjacks' lead to six, 55-49 heading into the fourth quarter. SFA scored 28 points in the third and shot 73.3 percent from the floor.
The Ladyjacks continued their dominance in the fourth with a 9-3 scoring run to extend their lead to double digits, 64-52. Both teams traded blows the rest of the game, but the SFA lead was too much for UIW to overcome as the Ladyjacks secured a 75-63 win and their 10th win of the season.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA secures their 15th win against UIW and their fourth win in a row.
• The Ladyjacks recorded their second straight game with at least 40 points scored in the second half.
• Five Ladyjacks scored double figures led by Myka Perry with 17.

• Aziyah Farrier scored 12 points, pulled nine rebounds and led the team with four blocks.
• Key Roseby recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
• Kaylinn Kemp scored six points, recorded five steals (new career high), and added five assists for her ninth game in a row with at least five assists.
