
Ladyjacks Dismantle Huskies at Home

Harmanie Dominguez set a new season high with 24 points and seven made three-pointers.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program wrapped up their two-game homestand against the Houston Christian Huskies Saturday afternoon.
It only took 15 seconds for the Ladyjacks to get on the board as Harmanie Dominguez drained her first three-pointer of the game, 3-0. After the Huskies tied the game up at six, SFA went on a 9-0 run to take a 15-6 lead with 4:02 left in the first quarter. HCU made one basket with 1:55 left and SFA went into the second quarter with a seven-point lead, 15-8.
Both teams traded baskets most of the second quarter, but with 3:35 left SFA went on an 8-0 run that included two threes from Dominguez to take a commanding 15-point lead, 31-16. Both teams went scoreless for the next minute and a half before the Huskies broke their scoring drought with 51 second left. The Ladyjacks went into the locker room with a 13-point lead, 31-18.
Dominguez got hot quick as she nailed her sixth three-pointer of the game to extend the lead to 18, 37-19. Less than a minute later she drained another one to make the score 40-22. Both teams traded baskets as SFA consistently held a 16-18 point lead for the next three minutes. A 7-0 spurt from the Huskies cut the SFA lead down to 11 with 4:11 left in the third quarter. Two minutes later, a three-pointer from Lydia Cajuste brought the SFA lead back to 15, 54-39. Both offenses continued to trade blows the rest of the quarter, but the Huskies went on a 7-2 run to end the third quarter. The Ladyjacks went into the fourth quarter with a 14-point lead, 63-49.
The Ladyjacks did not take their foot off the gas as they started the fourth quarter on a 13-0 run to take a dominant 27-point lead, 76-49. With 4:15 left in the game HCU went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 18, 80-62. The final basket of the game was a made three-pointer from Myka Perry to secure a dominate 20-point win, 87-67.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA moves to 16-1 against HCU and extend their win streak against the Huskies to nine.
• The Ladyjacks tied their season high in points with 87.
• Harmanie Dominguez led the team with 24 points and set a new season high in points and in 3PTM with seven.
• Myka Perry followed with 18 points of her own including going 9-11 from the free throw line.
• Key Roseby led the team with 10 rebounds followed by Perry and Cha Gardner who recorded eight each.
• Kaylinn Kemp added 15 points, four steals and eight assists (ties her season high). She records her 10th straight game with at least five assists.
• Lydia Cajuste recorded 11 points and went 3-4 from beyond the arc.
• Aziyah Farrier recorded her second straight game with four blocks to extend her lead in the SLC.
UP NEXT
The Ladyjacks will hit the road for their next two games at Nicholls on Thursday night and New Orleans on Saturday. SFA currently has a two-game win streak over the Colonels and a four-game win streak over the Privateers.
