SFA Opens September Hosting Texas A&M in a Showdown

SFA returns home with 25 shots on goal, as the Aggies have tallied 12 goals on the season.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin Women's Soccer opens up the month of September, hosting Texas A&M for a 7:00 PM kick-off on Thursday, September 4.
The 'Jacks are 0-5 against the Aggies with this match-up being the first time SFA has hosted Texas A&M in Nacogdoches since the start of the series in 1995. In the previous two matches, the Lumberjacks held the Aggies close, only allowing A&M to escape with a one-goal lead.
Head Coach Ashley Whittemore is returning to Nacogdoches after earning her first career win as a head coach in a 1-0 victory over UTEP. SFA holds six different goal scorers on the year and now returns to the Chopping Block for the first time since August 14. Brielle Buchanan leads the team in minutes played at 388. Freshman Taylor Dodson has collected two goals to lead the 'Jacks on offense, while Sierra McCluer continues to be a dominant force in the net with 17 saves on the season, and 10 coming from her shutout last match at UTEP. Of the seven goals scored this season, newcomers have accounted for five, while the team's pressure, with 25 shots on goal, has generated the offense's lead in shots on goal, with seven coming from Logan Heausler.
