Lumberjacks Drop Game Three to Islanders

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (9-23, 2-13 SLC) dropped the last game of their three-game series to the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders (13-21, 5-10 SLC) this afternoon, 6-4.
The Islanders started the scoring in the second inning after a scoreless first, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first, the Lumberjacks responded, as Kevin Duran crushed a ball over the center field fence for his second home run of the year. After two innings, the two teams were tied at one.
In the third, the Lumberjacks gained their first lead of the game. After Cooper Schneider smoked a one-out double, Josh Ibe stepped up and smoked his eleventh home run of the year, a line drive over the left field wall to give the Lumberjacks a 3-1 lead.
The following two innings went by without any offense, as 'Jacks starter Garrett Landry kept the Islander bats from producing any offense. In the sixth inning, Texas A&M Corpus Christi scored two runs to tie the game at three. In the next inning, they. scored one more to take a 4-3 lead after seven and a half frames.
In the bottom half of the seventh, Cooper Schneider worked a one-out walk and advanced to second on Josh Ibe's single, setting up Mark Henning with two runners on. Henning would come through, singling to left field, scoring Schneider and tying the game at four.
However, the Islanders scored two runs in the top of the eighth to go back up by two runs. Although they got two runners on in the eighth and ninth, the 'Jacks were unable to find the big hit and would lose to the Islanders, 6-4.
Kadin Munson (0-2) took the loss, while Tristan Crane (1-0) won his first game of the year.
