
21 Athletes Earn Top-Five Finishes at J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Track and Field Team competed at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet this weekend, hosted by Rice University. The 'Jacks had a very successful meet, as nine men and 12 women notched top-five finishes.
On the men's side, Parker Meyer had a great weekend, placing second in the men's 200 meters and sixth in the men's 100 meters. The Lumberjacks also showed out in the men's 800 meters, as they had three guys in the top six - Pablo Lessari won the event, Kevin Curry IV placed second, and Bennett Meyer-Wills placed sixth. Robert Fuelle placed fifth in the men's 800 meters while Jackson Parrish placed third in the men's 1500 meters. In the hurdle events, Samuel Pavan placed fourth in the men's 110-meter hurdles, while Jarvis Anderson continued his strong season, winning the men's 400-meter hurdles. To wrap things up, Hunter Murphy finished third in the high jump while Brayden Hill placed fifth in the pole vault. Teammates Garrett Savage and Cade Carter also placed top ten in the pole vault, as Savage came in sixth and Carter finished in tenth.
For the women, Jessica Ogunlade had an outstanding weekend, placing fourth in both the women's 100 and 200 meters. Kennedy Swann also placed fifth in the women's 200 meters. Reigan Smith and Landry Perkin both picked up fourth-place finishes, as Smith placed fourth in the women's 400 meters while Perkin finished fourth in the women's 800 meters. In the women's 5000 meters, Mercy Kipchumba finished third in the event, while Kenisa Meyer placed fourth in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Katelyn Smith placed second in the women's 400-meter hurdles while teammate Kennedy Swann placed fifth in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. In the field events, Kaya Russler placed fifth in the women's long jump, while Kira Van Den Ham placed fifth in the women's pole vault.
Next weekend, the Lumberjacks will travel to College Station, Texas, to take part in the A&M Alumni Muster, hosted by Texas A&M.
