Senior wins second-straight SLC triple jump crown, claims silver medal in long jump
FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin senior jumper Bryson Williams was named the Southland Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, March 5. The honor comes following the Californian's effort through the indoor campaign and at the SLC championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
Williams repeated as the league's triple jump winner after he landed 15.58m (51-1.5) in the event. He produced a personal-best effort in the long jump at 7.51m (41-7.75), in his first attempt in a meet this season, to earn the silver medal in the event. Williams scored 18 points for the Lumberjacks who won a second-straight SLC men's indoor title.
In addition to the SLC win, Williams won the triple jump at Houston's Robert Platt Invitational in Houston to open his indoor campaign and placed second in the event at Texas A&M's Charlie Thomas Invitational where he registered a season-best triple jump mark of 16.04m (52-7.5). That performance stands as the fourth-longest effort in the South Central Region this season, the best among non-high major jumpers in 2026 and the second-longest ever in SFA's indoor program history. It is currently the 22nd longest in the country, trailing only high-major jumpers.
He picked up a pair of Southland Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors in consecutive weeks following his efforts in Houston and College Station.
