‘Jacks Secure Walk-Off Run-Rule Victory Over Tigers in Midweek Matchup

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team (17-19) hosted the Texas Southern Tigers (21-20) in a midweek matchup.
SFA got the bats going early after Mikaelah Burkland and Hope Lusk drew walks to put runners on first and second for Ellie Vance. Vance reach on a fielder's choice as the Tigers got the force out on Lusk at second to put runners on the corners with one out. Kyi'Marri Ester grounded out to second base, but it gave Burkland enough time to cross home plate, 1-0. Adelyn Becerra and Ella Hill were hit by pitches to load up the bases for Camryn Milley. Milley smoked a ball through the left side to bring in Vance and Becerra, 3-0.
The 'Jacks continued their offensive push in the third after back-to-back walks and a back-to-back hit by pitches brought in the fourth run of the game, 4-0. Lainee Ballin stepped up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs then hit a single through the left side to score Becerra from third, 5-0. In the fourth, Lusk hit a leadoff single up the middle then Vance reached on an error to bring up Ester. Ester reached on a fielder's choice after the Tigers got the force out on Lusk at third. Becerra continued her hot streak with an RBI single up the middle to score Vance from second, 6-0. Hill followed with a blooper single to center to load up the bases for Milley again. Milley once again took advantage of the opportunity and hit an RBI single to left field, 7-0.
With a chance to enforce the run-rule, Sammy Hagman stepped up for her first at bat of the game and blasted a double to left field which brought up Lusk. Lusk followed that with an RBI double down the left field line to secure a walk-off run-rule victory for the 'Jacks, 8-0.

SFA will take a trip over to Louisiana to face off against the Northwestern State Demons in the Battle of the Sabine on the diamond beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, April 4th at 4:00 p.m.
