'Jacks Travel to Houston to Compete at the Victor Lopez Classic

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Track and Field team will travel to Houston this weekend to compete in the Victor Lopez Classic, hosted by the University of Rice. This will be a two-day event, as action will start on Friday, March 28th and end on Saturday, March 29th.
The Lumberjacks are bringing a huge group of athletes to the classic, as around 50 athletes will be competing. Coach Robert Hansen is excited to watch his athletes perform this weekend. "Rice is the perfect opportunity for our program to be on display against some of the Region and some of the Southland's best athletes. (At the venue with which the SLC championship will be hosted)." Hansen said. "We're excited to see our men's pole vaulters and triple jumpers in action, as well as our ladies 5k and some of our young throwers, who have been trending in a positive direction."
The meet starts Friday with the men's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. and will wrap up Saturday with the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays at 8:15 p.m.
After this weekend, the Lumberjacks will head to California to take part in the Stanford Invitational from April 3rd to April 5th.
